The biome receives new enemies upon defeating skeletron for the first time in a world.

This change is notified with the status message the pockets of granite and marble in your world tremble. Instead of mining out a granite biome you could try setting up a farm in one instead. It is quite strong compared to other pre hardmode underground monsters and has a special ability to become invincible for a few seconds. About ten seconds later i was attacked by a granite elemental. It can drop the night vision helmet rarely and will always drop a small amount of granite blocks just like the granite elemental. I was curious about this too so i opened up builder s workshop and grabbed 2 full stacks of granite blocks granite walls marble blocks and marble walls. The granite energy storm does not spawn on its own and must be summoned by the player by killing an unstable energy anomaly which spawns rarely in the granite caves after defeating skeletron.
